401 North Michigan Awarded Special Achievement of the Year by the GCFD
Zeller and 401 North Michigan Avenue were the recipients of the Special Achievement of the Year award at the 30th Annual Chicago Commercial Real Estate Awards event on March 15, 2018 hosted by the Greater Chicago Food Depository. The Special Achievement of the Year award is presented to a real estate project that contributes to the substantial growth of our communities. Zeller was recognized for its contributions with the renovations at 401 North Michigan Avenue and Pioneer Court, the enhancements to the Chicago Riverwalk and for securing Apple as a tenant for one of its global flagship stores on the plaza.
The project also included for the first time ever, ADA accessibility from the Michigan Avenue elevation to the Riverwalk via a new public access elevator. Apple and the new connection to the Riverwalk have created a new key node in retail at the south-end of Michigan Avenue. Tourists from the Loop and Millennium Park, in addition to the architectural tours, now have easy access to the Mag Mile. The project promotes high quality bicycle and pedestrian routes to Michigan Avenue, eliminating vehicular emissions, with added convenient bike racks. The new public space serves as an ideal connecting space for the community.
