Derrick Johnson Recognized as a Crain’s Notable Black Leader & Executive
Congratulations to Derrick Johnson, Senior Vice President, for being recognized as a Crain’s Chicago Notable Black Leader & Executive! Derrick has been a pillar in the commercial real estate community for almost 30 years. Since his start in property management, he has continuously made an effort to change the narrative to focus on developing a diverse work force for years to come. As the President of BOMA/Chicago, the trade organization that advocates for the office industry, Derrick is also working to diversify their Board of Directors and the industry’s suppliers.
Within the community, Derrick is passionate about serving with organizations such as Tutoring Chicago that empower students through education. In Derrick’s words, “I have also, as a father of a black high school student in the City of Chicago, had the opportunity to not only guide and be present in my son’s life, but be a mentor and have discussions with his friends, classmates and teammates. We need to do a better job of engaging our youth and at a fundamental level provide them someone to talk to – a sounding board.”
